Theatrikal, I took the photo with a Canon 100mm macro lens. Then I sharpened it in photoshop, duplicated the layer, put it in overlay, and played around with the contrast/brightness/gaussian blur. It's called a cartoon effect, and you can easily find free tutorials off google.
